Kiminobu Kimura ( Japanese 木村 公 宣 , Kimura Kiminobu ; born October 24, 1970 in Hirosaki , Aomori Prefecture ) is a former Japanese ski racer. Kimura was one of the best slalom riders in the world at the end of the 1990s and was considered an excellent technician.

Life

Kimura's career began slowly. After his start at the Winter Olympics in 1992 , he took part regularly in the races for the Ski World Cup from January 1993 . At first, however, he was only able to place himself in the lower ranks. In the mid-1990s, his career was interrupted by a dysfunction in his back that forced him to stay in hospital for two months.

After returning to the Ski World Cup, he began to establish himself as a top rider. Between January 1996 and March 1998 he was among the top ten 16 times. He achieved his best placement in January 1998 in the Veysonnaz slalom , where he finished third. This was the best placement by a Japanese ski racer since Tetsuya Okabe in 1990.

In the 1996/97 season he was eighth in the overall slalom ranking of the World Cup, and fifth the following year . After the 2002/03 season, Kimura ended his career.
