Child representative

Child representatives represent the interests of children . They plan, coordinate and control urban activities to increase child and family-friendliness and ensure that the city remains child-friendly . But they also provide impetus for a child- and family-friendly business location or carry out needs analyzes of children and families in the respective city. Municipal bodies are advised on matters relating to children. We work together with associations and institutions that are active in child and youth work.

They offer consultation hours for children, teenagers and parents. Both children and adults can turn to them if they have any problems. Adults also receive information on how they can actively work to be more child-friendly. Children are given advice and legal support.

There are child representatives in Dresden , Stuttgart and Munich, for example . Salzgitter is the first city in Lower Saxony with a child representative .

The positions of the child representative are mostly directly subordinate to the main administrative officials.

There is a state child representative in Saxony-Anhalt. It is affiliated with the Ministry of Social Affairs. It is similar in Hessen .
