Former children's recreation home in Lubmin

The children's recreation home is a listed building at Philosophenweg 10 in Lubmin in the Vorpommern-Greifswald district in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .

history

The building was built between 1926 and 1929 in place of a previous building, which consisted of a simple wooden building and was already used as a children's home. For the conditions at the time, it had its own showers , bathtubs and a large dining room with an above-average standard of equipment. The owner was the Eisenbahnverein in Berlin, which had already bought the Reichsbahnerholungsheim for adults in the immediate vicinity in 1910 . After the end of the Second World War , the mayor of Fürstenberg returned the building to the Deutsche Reichsbahn . At the time of the GDR they renamed it in honor of the politician of the Communist Party in Frederick Dettmann order. In addition, the motto was put on the facade: “We fight for peace, for the happiness of our children”. In 1967 they were looking for a new namesake and found him in Ernst Kamieth , a railway employee who died in an argument with a police officer in West Berlin .

After the fall of the Wall , the house was initially empty. It has been used as a sports and youth hotel since the 21st century.
