River course

The Kingurutik River forms the outflow of a system of lakes about 540  m high not far from the provincial border with Québec . The river initially flows about 35 km in a predominantly east-northeast direction. At Siamarni Forks at river kilometer 78, two larger nameless rivers flow into the Kingurutik River on the left. The Kingurutik River then turns towards east-southeast. The runoff from Esker Lake joins the river at 65 km from the north. The Kingurutik River eventually flows into the west bank of Kingurutik Lake . This is drained via the 2 km long Kotannak Brook ( ) to the head of the fjord-like Tikkoatokak Bay . The catchment area of the entire river system (based on the mouth of the Kotannak Brook) covers 4157 km². In the south it borders on that of the Fraser River , in the north on that of the North River . The landscape through which the Kingurutik River flows is part of the High Subarctic Tundra ecoregion . The arctic char occurs in the Kingurutik River .
