Kinkala is a city in the south of the Republic of the Congo . The capital of the Kinkala district and the pool department is about 50 kilometers west of the state capital Brazzaville . At the 2007 census , Kinkala had about 35,000 residents.

The city is connected to Brazzaville by the N1 motorway. After this path has been repaved, a drive from Kinkala to Brazzaville only takes between 45 minutes and an hour.

The Kenya Electricity Generating Company delivers power to the city episodically from 6 p.m. to 11 p.m. For the rest of the day, the locals have to use their own electricity generators .

The diocese of Kinkala , which covers about two thirds of the pool department with its area, has its headquarters in Kinkala.

As in many other places in the Congo, Kinkala suffered badly from the fighting in various civil wars in the Congo in the 1990s and 2000s, so here too many people were killed and buildings destroyed.
