The Kinning Park was a football stadium in the district of the same name in Glasgow . It was the home of Clydesdale FC between 1872 and 1876 and the Glasgow Rangers from 1876 to 1887.

history

Founded in Glasgow in 1872, Clydesdale FC, which was affiliated with the Clydesdale Cricket Club in the 1870s , played at Kinning Park between 1872 and 1876. It was on West Scotland Street in the south of Glasgow. Clydesdale was one of seven other clubs on March 21, 1873, one of the founding teams of the Scottish Football Association .

The course was first used by the Clydesdale Cricket Club in 1849. In 1876 the club sold the stadium to the newly formed Glasgow Rangers . Clydesdale moved to Titwood Park together with the Cricket Club.

The Rangers played at Kinning Park from 1876 to 1887. The Rangers played their first game here on September 2, 1876 against FC Vale of Leven in front of 1,500 spectators. The Rangers won the game 2-1. In 1887 the Rangers moved to Ibrox Park .

In 1881 the Scottish Cup final took place in front of 15,000 spectators in Kinning Park.

Today the eastward M8 motorway runs on the former site .
