Kinta Beevor

Carinthia "Kinta" Jane Beevor , née Waterfield (born December 22, 1911 in Northbourne , Kent , † August 29, 1995 in Canterbury ), was an English author .

Life

Kinta Beevors father was the painter Aubrey Waterfield , her mother the historian and observer journalist Caroline Lucie Isabella Jane Duff Gordon, called Lina Duff Gordon (1874–1964). As a child, she moved with her parents to Tuscany , where the parents moved into the Fortezza della Brunella in Aulla in 1920 and then into the Villa di Poggio Gherardo in Florence in the late 1920s . From 1933 to 1956 she was married to John Grosvenor Beevor . With him she had three sons, including the historian Antony Beevor .

Her autobiographical book The Garden in Heaven - A Childhood in Tuscany (1993) became a bestseller and has been translated into several languages.
