Kiran Nadar

Kiran Nadar (* 1951 ) is an Indian bridge player, art collector and philanthropist. She opened India's first private museum, the Kiran Nadar Museum of Art , in 2010 and has been named a "Hero of Philanthropy" by Forbes Asian Magazine.

Life

Nadar began her career in advertising as a communications and branding professional at MCM. She then worked for the software company NIIT . She is currently responsible for running the SSN Trust, the Public Health Foundation of India (PFHI), the Rasaja Foundation and the Rajiv Gandhi Foundation to support young Muslim girls in their education in Uttar Pradesh . She founded the first private museum in India in 2010, which was sponsored by the Shiv Nadar Foundation. The museum started out as a gallery set up on the HCL Technologies premises in Noida that opened its doors to the public with an exhibition called Open Doors. After a year, the museum moved to a mall in Delhi to make modern and contemporary art from India easier and more convenient for the average mall visitor.

Nadar is an international council member of the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City and one of the best Commonwealth Bridge players in India. She represented India in various international bridge competitions and in 2018 she and her team won the gold medal for India at the 5th Commonwealth Nations Bridge Championship .

She is married to Shiv Nadar , the founder of HCL Technologies , and their daughter Roshni Nadar was the richest woman in India in 2019.
