Farven Church

The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Farven is the church building of the Pella community within the independent Evangelical Lutheran Church in Farven in the Rotenburg (Wümme) district in Lower Saxony .

history

The first thoughts on founding an Evangelical Lutheran free church in Farven go back to 1879. Pastor Mützelfeldt undertook a number of church services (mission festivals ) in Ostereistedt and was invited by Pastor Schröder from Heeslingen to preach with him. Peter Dittmer from Heeslingen wanted to become a member of the Free Church and wrote a letter to Pastor Mützelfeldt. He turned to the church regiment with the request to found a free church . This was met with the following condition that: " If a community emerges and has grown sufficiently , it should form its own parish [...]"

Before 1900, the service was moved to Farven, where an outbuilding functioned as a church and was consecrated.

Building history

After the Pella congregation was established in 1885, the service initially took place in Johann Heins' hall. A little later a 64 m² hayloft was consecrated by Johann Heins as a church service room. A free-standing bell tower was erected in front of the building . The church service room was reached via a staircase on the outside wall of the house. Three windows on the gable wall provided the necessary light. The confessional room was separated by a curtain.

The pulpit , baptismal font and later the altar and lectern for the new church were all carved by Johann Heins.

By 1900 the congregation had grown to around 100 members, so that in 1908 it was decided to build a church. In the winter of 1908/09, the first preparations began on the construction site made available by Johann Heins. After eight months of construction, the church was consecrated on November 10, 1910.
