Japenzin Church

The Japenzin Church is a late medieval church building in Japenzin in Western Pomerania .

The rectangular, tile-roofed field stone building with a polygonal finish in the east encases the older, half-timbered building . In the west there is a boarded church tower with an octagonal helmet, which is first mentioned in 1667; It was renovated in the mid-1990s.

The furnishings include a carved winged altar from the end of the 15th century, which was restored in 1960, an offering box and a glass painting depicting a preacher on the pulpit from 1612. The organ was made by Barnim Grüneberg from Stettin.

The three bells of the church have all been restored; two date from 1366, another was cast around 1400. They are considered to be the oldest bell ensemble in Western Pomerania.

The Protestant parish has been part of the Pasewalk provost in the Pomeranian Evangelical Church District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Northern Germany since 2012 . Before that she belonged to the Greifswald parish of the Pomeranian Evangelical Church .
