Church of Mary of the Holy Family (Übelbach)
The Church of Mary of the Holy Family is a Roman Catholic mass chapel in the cadastral community of Neuhof in Styria , which belongs to the market town of Übelbach .
history
The chapel was built in 1958 by the Liechtenstein family and consecrated on October 26 of the same year. In 2004 the altar of the parish church in Deutschfeistritz was transferred to the chapel.
description
The church building has a covered area of 97.5 m² and a 12.7 m² porch. The brick walls are around 38 centimeters thick and rest on a broken base. The roof was designed as a rafter roof and is covered twice with dark gray rectangular panels. The church tower has a bell welded by Hubert Biebel in 1958.
The masonry altar carries a wooden tabernacle . The altarpiece painted between 1685 and 1690 by Hans Adam Weissenkircher shows the Holy Family with Saint Elizabeth and the boy John . It originally comes from the Übelbach parish church and has been in the chapel since 1958. To the right and left of the tabernacle there is a Sacred Heart and a Sacred Heart statue from 1886. On the side wall there is a bust of Christ made by Hans Neuböck.
The figural lead glass windows were made by the Tyrolean glass painting and mosaic institute . One of them shows Saint Clemens as the patron saint of the woodcutters with a saw and ax instead of the anchor that is otherwise his usual symbol. This representation, which is unique, was made at the request of the builder family Liechtenstein, who did not consider the anchor to be appropriate with regard to the lumberjacks in the wooded area around Übelbach. On the other windows the saints Oswald and Hubertus are depicted. The stone holy water font next to the entrance portal comes from the old parish church of Sankt Bartholomä . The pews come from the former Dominican convent in Gleisdorf .
