Church of Nospelt

The Nospelt Church is a Catholic church in the village of Nospelt , which belongs to the Luxembourg municipality of Kehlen . The church is located in the center of the village, surrounded by a cemetery.

history

In 1570 there is evidence of a chapel in Nospelt. It was dedicated to the Apostle Thomas . Construction of today's Thomas Church began in 1850 and was consecrated in 1864.

Thomaskirche: interior

This simple building in the classicism style is a symmetrical single-nave hall building with a non-retracted semicircular apse . The entrance facade is on the east side. A tower is placed on the flat sloping gable roof above the main entrance in the manner of a roof turret . It has a pointed, eight-sided tower hood in the style of a Julius Echter tower . A clock is embedded in the gable of the facade below the tower .

Furnishing

The main altar with the depiction of Our Lady of Sorrows and the two side altars (Mary, Heart of Jesus) date from the Baroque period . For cost reasons, colored windows were not used until 1862.
