The Church of Donatyre is an Evangelical Reformed church in Donatyre in the municipality of Avenches in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland . It was included in the Swiss inventory of cultural assets of national importance .

The early Romanesque church was built in the 11th century, like other buildings in the area, from facing bricks from the ancient Roman city of Aventicum and was consecrated to Saint Stephen . It was rebuilt in the 15th century. In 1906 a restoration was carried out by the architect Louis Bosset under the direction of the Vaudois monument protector Albert Naef , and in 1978 a second restoration. During excavations inside the church a large number of graves and stone sarcophagi were found.

The nave under a gable roof is vaulted with an open, paneled wooden barrel. The semi-circular closing choir, raised over three steps, with a horseshoe-shaped floor plan. It was connected to the nave with a massive triumphal arch wall with a retracted round arch opening. The triumphal arch wall has buttresses on both sides of the church and has a bell gable under a gable roof. The west gable side has a pointed arched portal with profiled stone walls, above which there is a small prefix as a pent roof, and above it a round window. In the southern choir corner is a small sacristy. Remnants of frescoes were discovered in the nave. The stained glass from 1712 has been preserved.

In the course of the restoration in 1906, the frescoes The Twelve Apostles and above Christ by the painter Ernest Correvon (1873-1965) were created as a copy of the frescoes of the Romanesque church of Saint-Etienne in Montcherand , which was built at the same time .
