The fortified church Hundertbüelte is a fortified church in Transylvania (today in the Sibiu district , Romania ) built in the Schenker chair by the Transylvanian Saxons of the village of Movile (German Hundertbüchi ) .

church

The church (St. Michael) was built in the 13th century as a Romanesque basilica with a west tower and a bell tower. The bell tower, the north and south walls of the nave and a small chamber south of the church have been preserved from the Romanesque building. A cube capital (basket capital) of a half column was seen in the churchyard in 1965 ( Hellmut Klima 1965). In the 14th century a gate tower was built in the west of the church. Its ground floor forms an arched porch. In the 15th century a massive tower with a battlement and loopholes was built in the east of the church above the choir. At the end of the 14th century, the renovation took place in the late Gothic style. The choir and central nave were equipped with a star vault, the walls of the nave were raised by three meters and pointed arch windows were installed. A spiral staircase was built on the north wall of the ship. Around 1730 the battlements of the gate tower were removed and today's roof was erected.

Furnishing

The altar was erected in 1840 using older images (Crucifixion, Paul and Peter). The baptismal font dates from 1584, was painted over in 1902 and bears the inscription "WLB 1584".

The organ was probably built by Samuel Mätz in 1862. It has a manual with 10 stops and a prospectus with baroque elements. In 1913 the organ was repaired by Karl Einenk ( Kronstadt ).

Three pre-Reformation bells hang in the bell tower. The large bell dates from around 1400, the middle bell from 1496, and the smallest bell from 1411.

The fortified church

The inner wall ring probably dates from the 15th century. The ring wall is reinforced in the southeast by a "port tower". It has a vaulted ground floor and is equipped with loopholes and casting holes. In the north there is a rectangular speck tower, on which a second curtain wall around a kennel was built in the 16th century in an arch around the north, west and south sides of the castle. The gate tower, which was originally equipped with a portcullis, stands on the west side of the church in connection with the inner ring wall. From this chopping stones and a scroll are still preserved. Around 1930 the top floor of the gate tower was demolished. In 1936 the old port tower collapsed. In 1961 repairs were carried out on the inner church wall.
