The Evangelical Church District Oderbruch was created on July 1, 1998 through the merger of the old parish of Seelow with the parish of Bad Freienwalde (Oder) . The seat of the superintendent of the church district Oderbruch was in Seelow. The parish of Oderbruch belonged to the Görlitz district of the Evangelical Church of Berlin-Brandenburg-Silesian Upper Lusatia .

In 2008, eleven pastors, five female pastors and one parish pedagogue were active in the church district, five of them in part-time employment.

A long-term partnership has been maintained with the Moers parish of the Rhenish Church . There were also partnerships with the Essen-Mitte church district as well as with the parishes of Kretinga in Lithuania and Paide in Estonia.

In the church district of Oderbruch, the arming times home in Reitwein was set up for children and youth camps in 1966 .

On January 1, 2014, the parish in the Oderland-Spree parish was opened .
