history

Kiribati was founded by Guy Fischer in Unterföhring in 1999 and is now based in the Schwabing district of Munich . The shareholders include HMK Consulting as the successor company to AVM Basel and the founders of Fischer, Knoblauch & Co. Medienproduktionsgesellschaft. Kiribati had set itself the goal of designing non-violent, child-friendly multimedia programs for children.

Kiribati is one of the first media publishers to implement the edutainment principle for children. With this in mind, the following products were designed in the years 1999–2001:

Games & Fun series in which the use of the computer is to be learned and is aimed at the very young and inexperienced in computers. See & Understand Series: Kiribati's Universe / Technology / Earth / Body for Children; Kiribati's children's atlas, inventors and discoverers, Indians, the world of animals, world history

In 2000, Kiribati, in cooperation with Thienemann Verlag, produced the Kinder Classics series based on books by well-known authors such as Max Kruse (Urmel), Carola Holland and Joachim Friedrich . The result is “ The lion is loose ” and “A lion has flown” according to Max Kruse and “4 ½ friends”, a crime thriller treasure hunt according to Joachim Friedrich. This was followed by the most famous product from Kiribati Verlag, the "Raben Trilogy": "When the ravens were still colorful", "The raven that was different" and "A raven rarely comes alone", based on the stories by Edith Schreiber-Wicke and Carola Holland .

However, just three years after the publishing house was founded, the product portfolio shifts towards learning programs for children (in the style of children's non-fiction books, often as an addition to the books). In 2002 "Kira with the Knights" was developed. Children learn interesting facts about the age of knights by accompanying Kira on her journey into the world of books.

In 2003, Kiribati specialized in e-learning for young people and is working on student software for the afternoon market in cooperation with German textbook publishers.
