features
The beetles are 4.5 to 8 millimeters long. Their coloring is very variable and ranges from yellow to red-brown with black markings, or even completely black. The pronotum and the wing panels are only very sparsely hairy. The pronotum is roughly the same length as it is wide and has a less punctiform structure than the wing. The species occurs in Europe, in the north to Denmark, central Norway and Sweden and in the south of Finland. The species also occurs in England, but is rare there. It lives on the edges of forests and meadows and can be seen on the flowers of various trees and shrubs, such as hawthorns , prunus species, rowan berries , privet , fruit trees and also blooming umbellifers , valerian and meadowsweet . The species can be found from April to August.
