Kirsten Müller-Vahl

Kirsten R. Müller-Vahl (born Rogmann ; born March 6, 1964 in Hanover ) is a German neurologist and psychiatrist . Her scientific focus is on researching Tourette's syndrome .

Life

Müller-Vahl studied from 1983 to 1990 at the Hannover Medical School (MHH) and received his doctorate there in 1990 . In 1999 she completed her training as a specialist in neurology and in 2006 as a specialist in psychiatry . Since 2006 she has been a senior physician in the Department of Clinical Psychiatry and Psychotherapy and since 2008 at the Clinic for Psychiatry, Social Psychiatry and Psychotherapy at the Hannover Medical School. In 2003 Müller-Vahl received his habilitation at the Hannover Medical School and was given the license to teach experimental psychiatry; In 2006 the license to teach was extended to the whole subject of psychiatry. In 2008 she was appointed adjunct professor .

Since 1994 Müller-Vahl has been studying the therapy of Tourette's syndrome with tetrahydrocannabinol . She demonstrated a significant improvement in symptoms through the administration of this active ingredient . Müller-Vahl is responsible for the introduction of a Tourette consultation hour at the MHH, which since then has served as an example for other university institutions.

Müller-Vahl is a member of the scientific advisory board of the Tourette Society in Germany and a board member of the International Working Group for Cannabinoid Medicines (IACM), of which she was chair from 2007 to 2009.
