The Kitsumkalum River is located in the Skeena River basin

The Kitsumkalum River is an approximately 110 km long orographic right tributary of the Skeena River in the northwest of the Canadian province of British Columbia .

The Kitsumkalum River is fed by a glacier northwest of Morton Peak in the Kitimat Ranges , a part of the Coast Mountains . It initially flows in a northeastern direction, later in an easterly direction through the mountains. It flows into the northern end of the 10 km long Kitsumkalum Lake and leaves it again at its southern end. After a further 36 km, the Kitsumkalum River finally flows into the Skeena River on the western edge of Terrace. Below Kitsumkalum Lake, British Columbia Highway 113 follows the river to Terrace.

The catchment area of the Kitsumkalum River covers approximately 2200 km². The mean discharge 10 km above the mouth is 124 m³ / s. The months of June and July are the most draining.
