Klára Hůrková (born February 15, 1962 in Prague ) is a Czech- German writer .

Life

Klára Hůrková studied philosophy at Charles University in Prague, where she graduated with a doctorate in 1986 . She then started studying English and art history at RWTH Aachen University . Here she did her doctorate in 2000 on the subject of mirror images. A comparison of the early plays of Václav Havel and Tom Stoppard with special reference to their political aspects . 1997/98 she stayed for research purposes at the University of East Anglia in Norwich . She writes and translates literary and scientific texts in German, Czech and English. In 1994 Hůrková made his debut with the book "Verše z hor". Since then she has presented several collections of poetry and two prose publications. Her poems have appeared in numerous anthologies and literary magazines.

Klára Hůrková has translated and edited three German-Czech anthologies with contemporary poetry. She has been a member of the Czech PEN Club since 2019 .

Klára Hůrková lives in Aachen .
