Monika Littau

Monika Littau (* 8. June 1955 as Monika Spiekermann in Dorsten ) is a German writer .

Life

Monika Littau studied German , geography and musicology . She then worked for more than 20 years in research, education and literature funding, most recently at the Ministry of Culture in North Rhine-Westphalia. She has been working as a freelance writer since 2007. In the 1980s she was studying in Sri Lanka and South Africa . In 2017 she was a short-term poetics lecturer at the Ocean University of China in Qingdao. She lives as a freelance author in the Rhineland and the Ruhr area.

Monika Littau is the author of prose texts, poetry, children's books, plays, radio plays and non-fiction books.

She is a member of the Association of German Writers in ver.di (VS) and served on the state board for several years. The author conceived and leads the poetry project postpoetry.NRW, which has been taking place annually since 2010. Monika Littau has been chairwoman of the Society for Literature in NRW e. V.

  • 2017 Prize for Political Poetry, 2nd Prize (together with Klára Hůrková and Maria Topali)
