Klüh Service Management is an international service company with its headquarters in Düsseldorf . The company operates in the areas of cleaning, clinic services, catering, building management, security services and personnel services. The offer also includes extensive airport services.
history
Josef Klüh founded a building cleaning service in 1911 and thus laid the foundation for the company. His son Josef Klüh (1918–1943) took over the business in 1938. During the Second World War, his father was killed as a soldier in the Soviet Union in 1943 and his widow Elisabeth Klüh-Thron and grandmother Maria Klüh resumed business after the war in 1946. In 1962 the company was handed over to the then 20-year-old son and sole owner of the company, Josef Klüh (born January 28, 1942 in Düsseldorf). The offer was expanded outside the region around Düsseldorf to all of North Rhine-Westphalia and later nationwide.
This step was followed by the addition of additional services in addition to the cleaning business and in 1976 around 3000 people were employed. The subsidiary SANITAS Klinikdienste GmbH was founded in 1976 for healthcare services. 1991 followed with the acquisition of WSD (Wach- und Sicherheitsdienst GmbH Co. Zentrale KG) the entry into the area of security services (Klüh Security). In 1992, Klüh Catering was founded for the healthcare sector. This was followed in 1996 by the economic services division and in 1997 by health management. International expansion followed in 2000 with the commissioning of Airport Services for the newly built Eleftherios Venizelos Airport near Athens. In 2002 the building and personnel service department was founded and in 2008 building technology. In 2004, Klüh was awarded the contract for the Olympic Village in Athens and provided cleaning and housekeeping services for 17,000 athletes and officials. In 2004 the company entered the Russian market and in 2005 in Poland with an order from a hospital with 800 beds in Rybnik, Upper Silesia . In 2006, Klüh received an order worth 14 million euros from Sun Microsystems for services in 19 countries.
In 2016, the company had 49,000 employees worldwide and annual sales of EUR 770.0 million. In 2017 it was 803 million euros and rose to 806 million euros in 2018. Foreign sales amounted to around 23% of total sales in 2018 and increased by 7.1% in 2019.
The Klüh Group, Sin & Stes (now part of the Elior Group) from France and MITIE Group PLC from Great Britain were involved in the joint venture Services Management International (SMI) based in London, which was founded in 2000.
In April 2010 Klüh received the cleaning contract for the tallest house in the world, the 828 m high Burj Khalifa in Dubai. The company also won the new tender for three more years in 2014 and again in 2017.
Managing directors
The management consists of Frank Theobald (management spokesman) and Christian Frank.
The company owner Josef Klüh withdrew from the company's operational business on November 1, 2009 and took over the chairmanship of the Klüh advisory board, which also included ex-Metro managing director Hans-Joachim Körber , HSBC Trinkaus Burkhardt AG spokesman Andreas Schmitz and Hans Joachim Driessen are represented.
Corporate structure
In Germany, Klüh Service Management has branches in 32 cities. Additional locations are available for the HR service, cleaning, building management and airport divisions.
Klüh Service Management is represented internationally in Dubai, Amsterdam, Warsaw, Moscow, Istanbul, Beijing, Wuhan and Shanghai. The Klüh Group is the market leader in the United Arab Emirates (Dubai, Abu Dhabi).
Services
The cleaning sector is the Klüh Group's service with the highest turnover. In September 2019, Klüh took over the ISS Facility Services GmbH subsidiary with around 2,000 employees and 700 customers from ISS Facility Services Holding GmbH. ISS Facility Services GmbH mainly provides cleaning services, but also catering and security services for medium-sized and large companies based in Germany. The company achieves an annual turnover of 46 million euros. Business catering introduced in 2008 expanded the offer. Klüh is currently the fourth largest caterer in Germany. In the clinic business, the Klüh Group is the market leader Security Services expanded its customer base in 2008 with a comprehensive service contract from the European Central Bank, which includes the German armed forces, airports and IT companies. A wide range of personal services completes the range of services offered by Klüh Service Management.
Tax investigations
In 2008, extensive tax investigations were initiated against the company's security industry. However, the investigation was closed with almost no result.
Corporate social responsibility
In 1986 company owner Josef Klüh founded the "Foundation for the Promotion of Innovation in Science and Research". The annual award is endowed with 25,000 euros.
The company promotes u. a. also the Düsseldorf ice hockey club DEG and the youth of the Fortuna Düsseldorf football club.
controversy
In 2016, the company was linked to bullying and discrimination against employees (mostly women and trade unionists) who work for the cosmetics company Avon in Turkey.
