Hans-Joachim Koerber

Hans-Joachim Körber (born July 9, 1946 in Braunschweig ) is a German manager and was CEO of Metro AG from June 2001 to October 2007 .

Career

education

Körber studied brewery technology and business administration at the Technical University of Berlin since 1966 . After graduating as a master brewer and business graduate, he completed his doctorate with the publication of his dissertation in 1976 .

Entrepreneurial activity

Körber began his activity in 1974 in the controlling department of the Oetker Group , and later he joined the management of Söhnlein Rheingold KG . In 1985 he moved to Metro AG, where he began as a member of the management team. In 1991 he became a member of the general management and in 1996 spokesman for the executive board. In 2001 he was unanimously elected chairman of the board and was appointed to this position until February 28, 2009. Körber worked u. a. with the introduction of a performance-oriented remuneration system based on EVA in 2000. In 2006, Körber's income was around 4.67 million euros.

In October 2007, after eleven years and eight years as chairman, he resigned from the management board of Metro AG. His successor was Eckhard Cordes.

Memberships and mandates

Körber is the spokesman for the "Länderkreis Romania" in the Eastern Committee of German Business , a member of the Advisory Board of Initiative D21 and a member of the board of the Federal Association of German Employers' Associations , as well as President of the Association of Supervisory Boards in Germany .

He is a member of the supervisory boards of Bertelsmann AG , Kaufhof Warenhaus AG , Real Holding GmbH and Loyalty Partner Holding GmbH and on the board of directors of Air Berlin PLC and Skandinaviska Enskilda Banken AB .

During his stay in Berlin, Körber was also active as a water polo player for Wasserfreunde Spandau 04 .

Today he lives in Düsseldorf .
