Western Klagenfurt Field: View from Kreuzbergl to Sattnitz (historical view)

The Klagenfurt field (Slovenian: Celovško polje ) is a subordinate lowland of the Klagenfurt basin in the Austrian state of Carinthia . It lies between Klagenfurt and Völkermarkt . To the north it extends to the Lippekogel and Magdalensberg , and to the south is the Sattnitz .

It is a landscape that was formed over by the Draugletscher during the worm freezing and when it retreated glacial shaped with lateral moraines and ice-edge terraces, sand and mighty terminal moraines such as the Lange Rain north of Leibsdorf . Where the glacier had carved out hollows, wetlands or lakes were created, unless they were filled with gravel or sand by the meltwater.

The main road connection is the east-west running south motorway , which was released in this section in 1999 .
