Poor Clare Monastery Windhoek

The Jesus, Mary, Joseph Monastery of the Poor Clare Sisters in the Namibian capital Windhoek was founded in 1996 by a group of nuns from the monastery of Lilongwe in Malawi . It was founded at the request of the late Archbishop Bonifatius Haushiku , Archbishop of Windhoek .

Aside from 6 to 8 hours of prayer, the sisters maintain the house and gardens. They make the liturgical vestments for St. Mary's Cathedral and sew uniforms for the cathedral's kindergarten.

The monastery belongs to the Roman Catholic Church in Namibia .
