Klaus Bacher

Klaus Bacher (born June 15, 1964 in Tuttlingen ) is a German lawyer and has been the presiding judge at the Federal Court of Justice since June 2, 2020 . He has a doctorate in law.

Life

After completing his legal training in 1994, Bacher was accepted into the higher judicial service of the state of Baden-Württemberg . He worked as a probationary judge at the Freiburg District Court and the Mannheim District Court . In 1997 he was appointed judge at the Mannheim Regional Court. From there, from 1997 to 2000, first to the Higher Regional Court of Karlsruhe , then to the Ministry of Justice of Baden-Württemberg . This was followed - in the years 2000 to 2003 - by a delegation to the Federal Court of Justice as a research assistant; there he worked for the X Civil Senate . In 2004 he was appointed judge at the Karlsruhe Higher Regional Court. On July 1, 2009, he was appointed judge at the Federal Court of Justice and initially assigned to the Xa Civil Senate , an auxiliary adjudicator temporarily formed to relieve the X. Civil Senate, when it was dissolved at the end of 2010, and to the Cartel Senate . On January 1, 2016, he was appointed deputy chairman of the 10th civil senate. From September 1, 2019 until his appointment as presiding judge on June 2, 2020, he also belonged to the newly formed XIII. Civil Senate . On this day he took over the chairmanship of the 10th Civil Senate.

Klaus Bacher has emerged with numerous magazine publications. He is also co-author of Georg Benkard 's comment on the Patent Act (11th edition 2015). Since the 11th edition in 2016, he has also been the editor of the standard work “Competition Law Claims and Proceedings” founded by Otto Teplitzky .
