Klaus Berka (born August 27, 1949 in Burgk ) is a German entrepreneur .

Life

Klaus Berka experienced his childhood as the son of a single mother at Burgk Castle. From 1971 to 1975 he studied chemical process engineering at the Köthen University of Applied Sciences in Saxony-Anhalt . He then worked as a research assistant in research and development / laser spectral analysis at the Carl Zeiss Jena combine . From 1979 to 1990 he worked in sales of analytical measurement technology.

In 1990, Analytik Jena was founded together with Jens Adomat and Walter Maul . In the summer of 2000 it was successfully floated on the stock exchange. As part of the IPO, he reduced his stake in the company from 938,750 to 752,250 shares, which resulted in gross proceeds of just under EUR 4.5 million . His stake is currently around 13.3%.

Berka is a member of the management of various subsidiaries of Analytik Jena AG, chairman of the supervisory board of CyBio AG and, with one interruption, since 2001 a member of the supervisory board of FC Carl Zeiss Jena . He is chairman of the university council of the Ernst-Abbe-Fachhochschule Jena and a member of its support group. He was chairman of the sponsorship group from 2002 to 2009. After Berka handed over the chairmanship of Analytik Jena to Ulrich Krauss in October 2016, he was elected President of FC Carl Zeiss Jena in mid-October 2016.

Klaus Berka is married and has a son, Alexander Berka, who also works for Analytik Jena.
