Klaus Effing

Klaus Effing (* August 1968 in Emsdetten ) is a German local politician ( CDU ). From 2015 to April 2020 he was the district administrator of the Steinfurt district in northern Münsterland . Since May 1, 2020, he has been a member of the board of the municipal joint agency for administrative management (KGSt) in Cologne .

Education and professional career

Klaus Effing grew up in his native Emsdetten in the north of the Münsterland in the Westphalian part of North Rhine-Westphalia . After school he completed an apprenticeship as an administrative clerk at the Steinfurt district . According to his own statements, he later studied administration , business administration and public management and received his doctorate on this subject. Professionally, he rose to head of the main and personnel office until his election as district administrator within the district administration .

Effing gained his first political experience in the non-partisan district association of the Europa-Union , of which he was deputy chairman until 2015.

CDU politician and district administrator

Effing has been a member of the CDU since 2008 .

After the previous district administrator of the Steinfurt district, Thomas Kubendorff, after a 16-year term in office, had decided not to run again in the district election in September 2015, the CDU district association nominated Effing as a district administrator candidate. Effing was elected as such on September 15, 2015 with 57.7% of the votes in the first ballot as the new district administrator of the Steinfurt district.

He left office on April 30, 2020. On May 1, 2020, Martin Sommer took over his functions as provisional head of the Steinfurt district administration and the Steinfurt district police authority.

KGSt board

As of April 1, 2020, he will be a member of the board of the municipal joint agency for administrative management (KGsT) in Cologne .

Private

Effing is married, has a daughter and a son and lives with his family in Cologne .
