While still a student, he made his literary debut in 1966 with the volume of poetry Yggdrasil . The series of poems Rejse IV was published between 1971 and 1973 , although he earned his living as a postman in the 1970s and early 1980s . In 1985 he published another volume of poetry with Hjem and received a lifelong grant from the State Art Fund.

Høeck's poems have a broad systematic scope and range from the interpretation of classical sonnets such as Topia eller Che Guevara (1978) and Sorte sonetter: et digt (1981) to the almost pure laying of letters in Rejse (1971 to 1973) and Hjem (1985) ).

In 2008, with Palimpsest over et århundrede, another important collection of poems was published, which contains poems about 20th century music , visual arts and poetry . For this volume of poetry he was not only awarded the Critics' Prize in 2008, but also received a cash prize of 75,000 crowns from the Literature Committee of the State Art Fund.
