Klaus Junge (physicist)
Klaus Junge (born June 9, 1926 ) is a German physicist. He was the director of the Central Institute for Optics and Spectroscopy (ZOS) of the Academy of Sciences of the GDR .
Career
Junge received his doctorate in 1963 from Humboldt University in Berlin . From 1965 he headed the II. Physikalisch-Technische Institut (PTI), which u. a. worked on laser rangefinders for military use. In 1970 he became head of the new Central Institute for Optics and Spectroscopy (ZOS) in Berlin, which belonged to the Academy of Sciences of the GDR . In 1978 he received the National Prize of the GDR 2nd class and in 1987 the title of Outstanding Scientist of the People . After his retirement, Jung became a member of the Leibniz Society in 1993 . He lives in Königs Wusterhausen .
