Klaus Lambertz (born May 11, 1940 ) is a former German soccer goalkeeper who played the Bundesliga debut game with Werder Bremen on August 24, 1963 against Borussia Dortmund (3-2).

career

Klaus Lambertz, who came to the league squad via the Werder youth from the Werder amateur team in the summer of 1961, made his debut in the football league north on August 27, 1961 for the injured goalkeeper Heinrich Kokartis . SV Werder won the home game against VfR Neumünster with 2-0 goals. In the last year of the old first-class league, 1962/63, however, he was able to prove his goalkeeping ability in 17 missions under coach Georg Knöpfle . Kokartis suffered a fractured skull base in January 1963 and was declared a sports disabled person. Lambertz was therefore from January 13 to April 29, 1963 in the last twelve league games in a row in the Werder goal. The green-whites won the runner-up in the Oberliga Nord. He also guarded Bremen's goal in the qualifying game before the final round of the German championship on May 18, 1963 in Ludwigshafen, against South Vice 1. FC Nuremberg. The "club" prevailed with 2-1 goals and Werder was therefore unable to take part in the group games.

In the debut year of the new Bundesliga , 1963/64, he was able to play eleven league games due to injuries to goalkeeper Günter Bernard who had just come to Bremen . This also includes the first matchday on August 24, 1963, when Werder started in the Bundesliga with a 3-2 home win against Borussia Dortmund. He conceded the very first Bundesliga goal in this game. The goal scorer was Timo Konietzka in the first minute of the game. After Bernard was injured again, Lambertz was back in the Werder goal on October 12, a 4-2 home win against Hamburger SV. After the 1-1 draw at Karlsruher SC on November 23, it was noted in the Bundesliga chronicle that Lambertz "would have been the great support and the KSC strikers failed several times because of the great response from Lambertz."

When Werder Bremen surprisingly won the championship with a goal difference of 54:29 in 30 games under coach Willi Multhaup in 1964/65 , Bernard played all competitive games. The ex-Schweinfurt goalkeeper was also in action in all 34 league games in the 1965/66 season. Lambertz played his last six Bundesliga games in the 1966/67 season. The last time he came on May 13, 1967 in the 1: 2 away defeat at 1. FC Nuremberg for Werder in a Bundesliga game. In 1963 he played three games in the DFB Cup , including the semi-finals on August 8, 1963, in a 2-0 defeat at the reigning German champions Borussia Dortmund. With the defensive formation Lambertz, the defenders Josef Piontek and Max Lorenz , as well as the runner row with Arnold Schütz , Helmut Jagielski and Helmut Schimeczek , Werder fought the BVB offensive with Reinhold Wosab , Aki Schmidt , Franz Brungs , Friedhelm Konietzka and Gerd Cyliax . In the rounds of 1964/65 and 1965/66 he was once in a cup game in goal: on January 16, 1965 in a 0-1 away defeat at the regional league team FSV Mainz 05 and on January 22, 1966 in a 4-0 home win against the upcoming German champions Munich in 1860. The sixth and seventh cup use he experienced in December 1966 and January 1967 in the two games against the southern regional division Hessen Kassel. The first leg on December 25th ended 2-2 after extra time, in the replay Lambertz and his Werder colleagues won 2-1 after extra time.

He was reamateurised in the summer of 1967 and was replaced by the new addition Karl Loweg .
