Reinhold Wosab (born February 25, 1938 in Marl ) is a former German soccer player .

Career as a player

Wosab began his career in 1958 at SpVg Marl . In 1962 he moved to Borussia Dortmund .

In its first season 1962/63 Borussia finished second in the Oberliga West behind 1. FC Köln. Wosab immediately completed 29 games in the major league and scored 14 goals. The favorite for the final round was 1. FC Köln. Coach Cajkovski not only had an outstanding defensive player in his ranks in Karl-Heinz Schnellinger , Helmut Benthaus , Leo Wilden , Hans Sturm , Karl-Heinz Thielen , Hans Schäfer , Christian Müller and Heinz Hornig were also among the best players in the league. In fact, both representatives from the West contested the final of the last German championship on June 29, 1963 in Stuttgart , which was played in the final round mode before the Bundesliga was founded. The quiet football expert Hermann Eppenhoff led the outsider to a well-deserved 3-1 victory. Wosab entered the scorers list to make it 2-0 in the 57th minute of the game.

In the 1963/64 season, the games in the European Cup were the next highlight in Wosab's career. The 5-0 and 4-0 wins against Benfica Lisbon and Dukla Prague were outstanding. In both games he also scored goals for Borussia. It was not until the semi-finals that they were eliminated from the eventual European Cup winners Inter Milan . The success story continued in 1965 when he won the DFB Cup . On May 22, 1965, the regional league team Alemannia Aachen was defeated in the final in Hanover with 2-0 goals.

After the national player Reinhard Libuda was committed by FC Schalke 04 for the 1965/66 season , Wosab lost his regular place on the right wing position. He was mostly used as a right full-back over the next few years. He was not a regular player in the biggest triumph in 1966: when he won the European Cup Winners' Cup on May 5, 1966 in Glasgow against Liverpool FC , Libuda stormed on the right wing. Wosab was only in action against the Bulgarians from CSKA Sofia in the 2nd round in this European Cup season.

In 1966 he and the BVB team were awarded the Silver Laurel Leaf .

In the same year he reached second place in the championship with BVB. Wosab stayed with BVB until 1971 and played a total of 198 games with the black and yellow team. He scored 60 goals.

Then Wosab played for two years at VfL Bochum . He met his old successful coach Hermann Eppenhoff in the first season 1971/72. The 9th place was a great success for the team that had just been promoted to the Bundesliga, led by the top scorer Hans Walitza and the playmaker Werner Krämer . Wosab was used in all 34 games this season. In total, he made 59 appearances in the Bundesliga in Bochum and scored nine goals.

At the end of his career, Wosab played for Rot-Weiss Lüdenscheid until 1975, at times with his old Dortmund teammate Jürgen Schütz. The 35-year-old played his last season in the Regionalliga 1973/74 again in a big way. In 31 games and 15 goals, he was one of the top performers in the Lüdenscheid team. He then returned to SpVgg Marl and made promotion to the regional league and two years later to the association league with the team.

After the career

After his active time, Wosab worked as the football chairman of Borussia Dortmund in management.

Reinhold Wosab has been in Alzey with his company Goly-Pokale since 1987 in the manufacture and sale of custom-made products, trophies, honorary prizes made of cast, glass and acrylic as well as gifts, medals, needles and engravings for well-known companies, municipalities, associations and many other institutions active.

Wosab also regularly works for the DFB , FIFA and UEFA . The awards come from his workshop: World Footballer of the Year , Golden Shoe and Golden Glove . The trophy for "Trainer of the Year", which is awarded by kicker , also comes from Wosab.
