Klaus Lichtblau

Klaus Lichtblau (born September 22, 1951 in Karlsruhe ) is a German historian of ideas and sociologist.

Lichtblau studied philosophy, political science and sociology at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich and at the University of Bielefeld . In Bielefeld he studied with Niklas Luhmann , with whom he wrote his thesis in sociology in 1975. After working as a research assistant in the editorial team of the Historical Dictionary of Philosophy at Bielefeld University, he received his doctorate in philosophy with Jürgen Frese in 1980 . He then continued to work in Bielefeld, then at the universities in Kassel and Kiel . His habilitation in sociology took place in 1996 at the University of Kassel. From 2004 to 2017 he was Professor of Sociology with a focus on the history and systematics of social science theory formation at the Johann Wolfgang Goethe University in Frankfurt am Main . Since 1998 Lichtblau has also worked for the University of Hagen .

research

The history of sociology is one of the research interests of Klaus Lichtblau . He is particularly interested in the "classics" Max Weber , Georg Simmel and Karl Mannheim . Lichtblau also researched the rebuilding of social sciences at the University of Frankfurt in the post-war period, which is not least due to the fact that his chair is in the tradition of the chair of Theodor W. Adorno .
