Klaus Schmidt-Koenig

Klaus Schmidt-Koenig (born January 21, 1930 in Heidelberg ; † February 18, 2009 in Oberkirch ) was a German ornithologist , behavioral scientist and university professor .

Life

After graduating from high school in Heidelberg, Schmidt-Koenig began studying chemistry in Munich , but then switched to biology in Heidelberg . There he received his doctorate in 1958 . From 1963 to 1975 he worked at the University of Göttingen , in 1975 he accepted the call to the University of Tübingen . There he headed the department and chair for behavioral physiology until his retirement in 1996 . Since 1971 he has also been Professor of Zoology at Duke University .
