Klaus Wegenast
Klaus Albert Wegenast (real first name Nikolaus) (born December 8, 1929 in Stuttgart ; † November 29, 2006 in Bremgarten near Bern ) was a German Protestant theologian and important Protestant religious educator .
Life
After graduating from high school in Stuttgart, Klaus Wegenast began studying classical philology at the University of Tübingen with Walter Jens and Protestant theology with Rudolf Bultmann . Wegenast was a member of the Igel Academic Association in Tübingen . Wegenast also studied in Heidelberg and Marburg. In 1954 he passed the first and in 1957 the theological exam. From 1956 to 1962 Wegenast was a teacher at a Stuttgart high school. In 1960 he did his doctorate under Günther Bornkamm on "Understanding tradition in Paulus and in the Deuteropaulinen." From 1962 to 1972 he was professor of Protestant theology and religious education at the Lüneburg University of Education (the later Lower Saxony University of Education, Department Lüneburg). From 1972 to 1996 he taught as full professor for practical theology and religious education at the Protestant theological faculty of the University of Bern . From 1974 to 1976 he was dean of the faculty and from 1987 to 1988 rector of the university.
His list of literature includes 34 books, over 320 essays, 400 book reviews, well over a hundred articles in specialist encyclopedias and reference works. He also wrote newspaper articles and gave interviews for radio and television programs. Wegenast was also the editor and editor of eight magazines and book series.
