Erich Feifel

Erich Feifel (born September 27, 1925 in Lauchheim ; † April 5, 2003 in Munich ) was a German Roman Catholic theologian , and university professor for religious education and kerygmatics .

Life

After military service and a prisoner-of-war period, Erich Feifel studied Catholic theology, philosophy and education in Tübingen. In 1950 he was ordained a priest for the Rottenburg-Stuttgart diocese .

He received his doctorate in 1957 under Franz Xaver Arnold . His habilitation in the field of religious education took place in 1963.

From 1968 to 1991 he taught and researched as a professor for religious education and kerygmatics at the Catholic-Theological Faculty of the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich. From 1970 to 1971 he was dean of this faculty and from 1972 to 1980 chairman of the study reform commission "Curricula in Theology" of the West German Faculty Conference. In what was then the Institute for Catechetics and Homiletics , he assumed the role of chairman of the board of trustees until its dissolution in 1982.

In his many years of teaching activity and in numerous publications, he has played a key role in shaping and further developing the subject of religious education in German-speaking countries since the 1960s and has made a significant contribution to its profile as a scientific discipline.

His students include a. Konrad Baumgartner , Hubert Brosseder , Fritz Köster SAC , Michael Long , Ehrenfried Schulz Jürgen Werbick and Paul Wehrle .
