Jürgen Werbick

Jürgen Werbick (born May 26, 1946 in Aschaffenburg ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian .

Life

Raised in the Palatinate , Werbick studied Catholic theology in Mainz, Munich and Zurich and received his doctorate in 1973 under Heinrich Fries . Between 1973 and 1975 he worked as a pastoral assistant in Munich. From 1975 he was a research assistant at the Institute for Practical Theology of the Catholic Theol. Faculty of the Munich Ludwig Maximilians University under Erich Feifel , where he qualified as a professor in 1981.

From 1981 to 1994 he held a professorship for systematic theology at the University of Siegen .

In 1994 he followed the call to the Westphalian Wilhelms University in Münster , where he took over the chair of fundamental theology at the Catholic Theological Faculty as successor to Johann Baptist Metz . In the summer of 2011 he retired.

Werbick is married and has three grown daughters.
