Ingo Broer

Ingo Broer (born February 3, 1943 in Plauen ) is a German Roman Catholic theologian and exegete .

Life

Broer studied Catholic theology, psychology and sociology at the Albert-Ludwigs-Universität Freiburg . He was in 1970 with a thesis on the Grablegungsgeschichte in the New Testament at the theological faculty to Dr. theol. PhD . After his habilitation he received in 1972 a call to the chair " biblical studies with a focus on New Testament and its teaching" at the University of Siegen .

Broer is a member of the “Studiorum Novi Testamenti Societas” (SNTS), the international society for the study of the New Testament. He is also a member of the Senate of the University of Siegen and co-organizer of the "Forum Siegen", which forms a round table for all scientific disciplines, and the "Wednesday Academy" of the University of Siegen, which offers lectures open to the public.

He is the author of several books on New Testament topics, such as the Sermon on the Mount . Research focuses on anti-Judaism and tolerance in the New Testament, as well as the so-called introductory problems and the Gospel of Matthew . Prof. Dr. Ingo Broer works with Prof. Rudolf Hoppe , University of Passau, and Dr. Peter Trummer , University of Graz, on ancient texts on the environment of the New Testament. Broer is a signatory of the memorandum “ Church 2011: A Necessary New Dawn ”.
