Klaus Matthias Krämer (born January 14, 1964 in Stuttgart ) is a German theologian and Roman Catholic priest . From 2008 to 2019 he was president of missio Aachen and since 2010 president of the children's mission organization “Die Sternsinger” . At the same time he was national director for the Pontifical Mission Societies in Germany (outside of Bavaria ).

Life

After graduating from the Georg-Büchner-Gymnasium in Winnenden in 1983 and completing military service in Dillingen an der Donau in 1983/84, Krämer studied law and theology in Tübingen , Augsburg , Munich and Freiburg i. Br. After the first state examination in law, he also completed his studies in Catholic theology in 1991 . In 1992 he was in Stuttgart for a deacon ordained, followed on 19 June 1993 in Neresheim the ordination to the priesthood.

After working as a deacon in Horb am Neckar and vicar in Rottweil , Krämer became bishop's secretary to Bishop Walter Kasper in Rottenburg in 1994 . In 1997 he was released to complete his doctorate and took on the role of university pastor at the Catholic University of Freiburg . In January 2000, Krämer finished with the work “Imago Trinitatis. The likeness of man to God in the theology of Thomas Aquinas ”received his doctorate at the Albert Ludwig University of Freiburg i. Br. From.

In April 1999, Krämer was appointed Cathedral Chapter in Rottenburg a. N. appointed and at the same time head of the World Church Department in the Episcopal Ordinariate Rottenburg . Five years later, in 2004, he was appointed Episcopal Vicar for the Formation of Pastoral Services and Head of Department I in the Rottenburg Episcopal Ordinariate. At the same time, he took on various universal church tasks at the federal level: From 2006 to 2009 he worked on the project "Future of universal church work in Germany". In 2007/08 he was spokesman for the conference of diocesan officials responsible for universal church tasks.

On July 11, 2008, Klaus Krämer - as successor to Hermann Schalück - was appointed National Director for the Pontifical Mission Societies in Germany (outside of Bavaria) and President of missio in Aachen . His introduction to the office of President of missio in Aachen took place on September 26, 2008. The German Bishops' Conference appointed Prelate Dr. Krämer on February 25, 2010 in addition to being President of the children's ministry “Die Sternsinger” . He took over this office from Winfried Pilz and has since held it in personal union with the presidency of missio Aachen. In autumn 2019, Dirk Bingener succeeded him in both offices. On April 1, 2020, Krämer returned to the Diocese of Rottenburg-Stuttgart, where he took over the management of Department VIIIb, Church Building, in the Episcopal Ordinariate.

In June 2010, Krämer completed his habilitation in dogmatics and mission studies at the Philosophical-Theological University of Vallendar . Since then he has taught there as a lecturer in the subject Systematic Theology . On July 24, 2015, the PTHV appointed Krämer honorary professor for dogmatics and missiology at the theological faculty.

In 2011 he became chairman of the Catholic Academic Foreigners Service (KAAD) and one year later also chairman of the China Center in Sankt Augustin . He is the editor and author of specialist books and articles in the theological field.
