Dirk Bingener

Dirk Bingener (born June 27, 1972 in Siegen ) is a German Roman Catholic priest . He is president of missio Aachen and president of the children's mission organization “Die Sternsinger” .

Life

Dirk Bingener grew up in Niederdielfen near Siegen. After graduating from high school in 1992 at Am Löhrtor , he did his basic military service . From 1993 to 1999 he studied Catholic theology at the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn and the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München . In 1999 he entered the archbishop's seminary in Cologne and was ordained deacon in Siegburg. In 2000 he was ordained a priest in Cologne. He worked in pastoral care in Cologne and Düsseldorf. In 2007 he became parish vicar at the parish of St. Theodor and St. Elisabeth in Cologne.

From 2007 to 2015 he was Diocesan President of the Federation of German Catholic Youth (BDKJ) in the Archdiocese of Cologne and was elected Federal President of the Federation of German Catholic Youth (BDKJ) in 2015, the largest umbrella organization of Catholic children and youth organizations in Germany with around 660,000 members. The focus of his work was in particular youth pastoral care as well as the topics of sustainability , development policy and (inter) national voluntary services. Bingener has been a member of the Catholic Young Congregation (KjG) since 2002 .

Bingener was active as chairman of the voluntary social services (FSD) in the Archdiocese of Cologne. In 2017/18 he was chairman of the Catholic Federal Association for Voluntary Services . He has been a member of the World Church Conference of the German Bishops' Conference since 2017 .

In July 2019, at the suggestion of the German Bishops' Conference, the Congregation for the Evangelization of Peoples in Rome appointed him President of the children's mission organization 'Die Sternsinger' and the International Catholic Missionary Organization missio Aachen. His official introduction as the successor to Klaus Krämer took place on October 10, 2019 in Aachen.
