Robert Leuenberger

Robert Leuenberger (born April 8, 1916 in Burgdorf ; † October 1, 2004 in Männedorf ) was a Swiss Protestant Reformed theologian .

Life

The son of an import merchant studied German and history at the Universities of Bern and Zurich from 1937 to 1945 and received his doctorate in Bern in 1948. From 1946 to 1957 he worked as a high school teacher in Biel . He studied theology at the Universities of Basel and Zurich. From 1957 to 1965 he worked as a student chaplain and head of the Church Theological School in Basel. In 1964 he received his doctorate and habilitation from the University of Basel. From 1965 to 1983 he was a full professor for practical theology at the University of Zurich. From 1974 to 1976 he was the rector of the university . The University of Geneva awarded him an honorary doctorate .

Robert Leuenberger was married from 1945. The politician Moritz Leuenberger and the artist Dieter Leuenberger are his sons.
