Frieder Gadesmann (born June 3, 1943 in Celle ; † July 30, 2014 ) was a German Protestant theologian , religious educator and educational scientist .

Life and professional history

Frieder Gadesmann was born in poor conditions in Celle in 1943 and grew up there from 1950 in Bockelskamp . Until 1961 he was a member of the Christian Scouting Association in Germany , first in Celle and then in Wienhausen. As a scout, Gadesmann undertook hikes and so-called “tramping trips” within Germany, to Luxembourg, France, Italy, Monaco, San Marino, Spain and Morocco.

After school education in Westercelle (where he was particularly interested in amateur theater), he began training as a handwriter in Celle, which he had to end prematurely due to health problems. In the Bundeswehr he was trained as a state-certified nurse and officer. His last rank was lieutenant colonel in the reserve. He then worked as a nurse and company paramedic for the city of Hanover and at the Volkswagen plant in Hanover.

From 1968 he studied (among others with Klaus Wegenast and Hermann Schweppenhäuser ) at the then independent University of Education Lüneburg (from 1969 University of Education Lower Saxony (PHN), Department Lüneburg, today University of Lüneburg ) and passed the first state examination for teaching at elementary schools in 1970, 1974 the second state examination as well as the examination for the teaching post at secondary schools and the main diploma examination in educational science . In 1973 he was appointed head of the didactic seminar for Protestant religion in the Lüneburg-Nord training region. At the same time Gadesmann in Loccum was elected to the board of the Working Group for Protestant Religious Education in Lower Saxony (ANR). This and the fact that despite having already passed the Realschullehrerprüfung, he is still a teacher. A. was, furthermore, that he was also a city councilor, led to conflicts with the then school council Lüneburg-Land after his second service examination. Gadesmann pursued a supplementary course at the University of Hamburg in Protestant theology and history. Despite protests from the college in Bleckede and the efforts of the local city director, there was a break with the school board.

In 1974, Frieder Gadesmann became a research assistant for Protestant theology and religious education at the Esslingen University of Education, where he was appointed lecturer in 1979. From 1975 to 1981 he was the spokesman for the assistants at the universities of teacher education in Baden-Württemberg.

In 1981 he received a teaching position in didactics of religious education at the state education authority in Nürtingen . After the dissolution of the Esslingen University of Education, he moved to the Ludwigsburg University of Education in 1984 . After this time, he was twice chairman of the state faculty of teachers at the universities of teacher education for Protestant theology / religious education and reached an agreement at the Protestant state churches and dioceses in Baden-Württemberg that students in Protestant and Catholic theology submit the topic of a bi-denominational approval work were allowed to. During this time he was appointed honorary judge for refused conscientious objectors at the regional court in Stuttgart.

From 1991 he taught as a professor for Protestant theology and religious education - until its dissolution - at the University of Education Zwickau , then at the Philosophical Faculty of the Technical University of Chemnitz-Zwickau . In 1992 he taught as a visiting professor at the Pedagogical University in Nyiregyháza (Hungary).
