Bockelskamp is a district of the municipality Wienhausen in the district of Celle in Lower Saxony .

geography

Bockelskamp is about 2 km west of the core area of ​​Wienhausen. Flackenhorst belongs to Bockelskamp and is 1 km to the southwest. The Aller flows north of Bockelskamp at a short distance .

history

Bockelskamp and Flackenhorst were first mentioned in 1233 in the files of the Wienhausen monastery . Bockelskamp derives its name from a wooded area with beech trees, while the name Flackenhorst goes back to the Germanic proper name Flacco. The Allertalbahn railway line from Gifhorn to Celle ran via Bockelskamp. Passenger traffic was stopped in 1981.

Commemoration

To the north of Bockelskamp there is a memorial stone for the fighter pilots of the Rammkommando Elbe and the Sonderkommando beehive , which former members of the commandos erected.
