Shamrock arch

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A special cut in heraldry is the clover leaf bow . This arch shape is taken from architecture , where it is used in windows and gate passages. It is also known as the three-pass arch, but should not be confused with the similarly shaped three-mountain . An arc of a clover consists of three arcs in a line. The middle circular arc is shown as the larger one in the coat of arms and the curvature of all downwardly open arcs point towards the head of the shield . A symmetry is common.

Coat of arms cutting line

In many coats of arms , it serves as a dividing line and is often used as a more or less broad coat of arms cutting line in a gold or silver version. Here it is a herald's picture.

Architectural element

But the clover leaf arch is also popular as an element of architecture. Gates and windows of castles or towers are adorned with this.
