location

Klein Bohrau was in Niederlausitz on the Malxe and west of the village of Bohrau.

history

Klein Bohrau was a so-called "expansion" of Bohrau, a comparatively young settlement that was first mentioned in writing in 1803. In the church register of Mulknitz the settlement was referred to as "new houses in Bohrau". Due to the large flocks of sheep on the manorial farms in Bohrau, a sheep farm was established in Klein Bohrau. Huts were built around them in the second half of the 18th century. In 1880 there were ten farms. In the Urmes table sheet from 1845, the settlement is recorded under the name "Bohrauer Hütten".

In 1880 it was found that 25 residents actively spoke Sorbian, in 1956 none of the residents spoke Sorbian any longer.
