Little Cat Chi ( Japanese チ ー ズ ス イ ー ト ホ ー ム , Chīzu Suīto Hōmu for Chi's Sweet Home ) is a manga by Konami Kanata that was published in Japan between 2004 and 2015. It has been implemented as an anime television series since 2008 . The manga tells about the everyday life of the house cat Chi.

action

A small gray-and-white kitten with black stripes walks carefree in the area with its mother and two siblings. The kitten then loses its family and, after a long search, finally gets lost completely. Little boy Yohei and his mother are sad, and the two of them take the kitten home with them. However, her landlady does not allow pets, so the mother is looking for suitable accommodation for the kitten, which turns out to be difficult. The kitten forgets its family more and more and takes its new surroundings more and more into the heart. Yohei and his parents also love the kitten, although it pees everywhere except in the litter box provided for it. Even the little son of the family still has problems using the toilet on his own. If he has to, he walks through the apartment and alerts the parents by saying "Chii!" calls; a common phrase used by toddlers in Japan for "pee!". The kitten then thinks that the little boy is calling it and is soon given the name Chi .

Publications

The manga will appear in early 2004 (issue 6/2004) every week as a sequel in the Japanese manga magazine Morning , whose target group is adults and in which the cat manga What's Michael? appeared. The manga was paused from July 2014 to April 2015. The series ended in June 2015. Little Cat Chi was also published in a total of twelve paperback books by the Kōdansha publishing house. These were commercially successful and have sold over 700,000 times. The individual chapters are all kept under ten pages, which is why a paperback contains around 20 chapters. The chapters in the paperbacks are entirely in color, while the morning manga is only black and white.

In German brought Carlsen publishing the manga, between June 2014 and July 2017 out completely. From 2010 the publishing house Vertical Chi’s Sweet Home published in the USA . A sequel to the manga, written and drawn by Kinoko Natsume , was published by Kōdansha from March 2017 to 2018 under the title Kyō no Koneko no Chi ( 今日 の こ ね こ の チ ー ). The series has also been published in four edited volumes. A German translation has been published by Carlsen as Süße Katzen Chi: Chi's Sweet Adventures since July 2020 . Vertical publishes the manga in English.
