Residential building

The residential building Kleiner Driesch 10 is in the Rheindahlen district in Mönchengladbach ( North Rhine-Westphalia ).

The building was constructed in the second half of the 19th century. It was entered in the monuments list of the city of Mönchengladbach on March 6, 2007 under No. K 093 .

architecture

The property is located in the historic center of Rheindahlen. It is a two-story, five- axis wide, plastered house with a decorative facade and a mansard roof . It is drawn around an axis in front of the line of neighboring buildings on the northern edge of the square and thus also forms a kind of western end of the square (Kleiner Driesch).

The ground floor shows a plaster block with boss- like banding. The ground floor and upper floor are separated by a cornice and a sill , the parapet zone between the two cornices is designed as a frieze with head reliefs below the upper floor windows. On the upper floor, instead of windows, further medallions with portrait reliefs are arranged in the second and fourth axes .

This striking facade structure is continued in the first axis of the right, narrow side of the house facing the Driesch. The other half of this side, which does not affect the street space, as well as the other outer sides are smoothly plastered. The segmented arched window openings and the front door opening are provided with profiled plaster walls, on the ground floor with volute-shaped wedge stones.

The interior of the house was thoroughly modernized in the second half of the 20th century. Therefore only the wooden floor ceiling and above all the barrel-vaulted cellar under the front right half of the house are of concern .

The house at Kleiner Driesch 10 is important for Mönchengladbach. Its preservation and use is in the public interest for the described scientific, here architectural-historical and above all for urban planning reasons. It is therefore a monument according to § 2 DSchG NRW .
