geography
Korgau is located two kilometers southeast of Bad Schmiedeberg on the eastern edge of the Düben Heath . The place can be reached by connecting roads from Bad Schmiedeberg and Moschwig.
history
Korgau is made up of the two districts of Großorgau and Kleinkorgau, which, according to the ruling of July 20, 1950, were combined to form the municipality of Korgau with effect from July 1, 1950. Both places are said to have been first mentioned around 1400. The old post road ran through the town from Düben to Pretzsch , which caused great destruction by marauding troops in the Thirty Years' War .
Großkorgau belonged to the Pretzsch office of the Kingdom of Saxony until 1815 and then came to the Wittenberg district of the Merseburg administrative district of the Prussian province of Saxony .
Until June 30, 2009, Korgau was an independent municipality. The last mayor was Bernd Langbein.
