Kleinquern ( Danish Lille Kværn ) is a district of the Steinbergkirche community in the Schleswig-Holstein district of Schleswig-Flensburg . The district makes up part of the former municipality of Quern , which was incorporated into the Steinbergkirche in 2013.

location

Groß-Quern is located about eight hundred meters to the southeast . About five hundred meters east of the village is the Scheersberg with the Bismarck tower . To the west of the village lies the Wolfsbrück settlement at a distance of about eight hundred meters. Seven hundred meters to the north is Nübel. Nübelfeld is also five hundred meters to the northeast.

history

The place name consists of the place name Quern and the addition "Small", which delimits the larger Greater Quern , which is not far away . Kleinquern and Hattlund are daughter villages of Groß-Quern, the original village of Quern. Apparently the daughter village of Kleinquern came into being in the 15th century. Kleinquern was first mentioned in a chronicle in 1483 as "Lutke Quern", later also as "Lüthken-Querum". The word "Lutke" is apparently derived from the Low German word "lütt" for "small".

On a very detailed Danish map from 1857/58 the place was already marked as "Lille Kværn". The location could also be found on the map of the Prussian Land Survey around 1879. Kleinquern used to consist of seven farms that were temporarily subordinate to Gut Nübel . Until 1970, Kleinquern was administratively part of the municipality of Nübel and only from this time on to the municipality of Quern. Since 2013 it has belonged to the Steinbergkirche community. Today, Kleinquern is a purely residential village; there are no longer any farms. The old Lindenhof in the village is one of the cultural monuments of Steinbergkirche . A group of houses, made up of three houses on Kleinquern Street, has borne the name Bortkayr since the 17th century, which indicates “cleared quarry land”.
