biography

Klemens Iten was born on October 16, 1789 in Unterägeri as the son of the farmer Peter Iten and Barbara born in Zurich. Klemens Iten, a farmer, miller and sawmill by profession, participated in the establishment of the spinning mill in Unterägeri in 1834 together with the main founders, namely his brothers-in-law Wolfgang Henggeler , Alois Henggeler and Franz Josef Henggeler . To do this, between 1834 and 1860 he sold land, water rights and buildings for the construction and expansion of the factory.

Klemens Iten, who was married to Anna, the daughter of the farmer Beat Karl Heinrich, and his second marriage to Katharina, the daughter of the blacksmith Joseph Franz Henggeler, died on May 4, 1875 at the age of 86 in Unterägeri.

politics

Klemens Iten was initially politically active between 1837 and 1846 as a conservative district administrator. Subsequently he was a member of the cantonal and municipal council from 1846 to 1847 . From 1852 to 1857 he was represented in the Cantonal Council and, in parallel, from 1852 to 1859 in the Zug Government Council.

Klemens Iten's importance lay less in the political field than in his participation in the founding of the spinning mill, which he decisively supported with his possessions and rights in a suitable place.
